1. Zoom and Email Are Driving Remote Workers Crazy
Broken record here. According to a new survey by Wakefield Research:
29% of remote workers want to leave their current job because of time spent in meetings or on video calls.
22% of remote workers want to quit because of the volume of email they receive.
The survey of 1,000 U.S.-based remote workers was conducted in March 2021.
Is the solution to do less video and email and more chat notifications? Hardly.
25% crave a notification-free day.

2. The Innovator’s Dilemma
Programming note: On May 5 I will kick off a nine-part series on how internal communications teams and professionals can overcome the innovator’s dilemma.
Series summary: The Innovator’s Dilemma, a classic business book, examines how companies can succeed or fail in the face of disruptive innovation. The insights and lessons from this study can be used by internal communicators who are faced with maintaining a status quo comms program or deciding whether to adopt innovative communications strategies.

4. A Guitar Forest Love Letter
An Argentinian farmer created a guitar-shaped forest and garden as a memorial for his late wife, Graciela, who died suddenly in 1977.
He drew the lines by spacing out his children over the fields as guides. With the help of field hands, the family planted more than 7,000 trees.
The outline of the instrument are made of cypress trees, as is the star-shaped hole beneath the strings. The strings themselves are “drawn” in eucalyptus trees.
The entire guitar stretches two-thirds of a mile long.
How sweet is this? Gabriel Garcia Marquez couldn’t have written a more magical love story.
